Conor McGregor Expresses Regret Over Infidelity, Vows to Appeal Verdict in Sexual Assault Civil Case
Conor McGregor has issued a final statement addressing the recent civil trial in which he was found liable for sexual assault following allegations first made in 2018.
The former UFC two-division champion was accused of assaulting a woman named Nikita Hand at a Dublin, Ireland hotel.
After an 11-day trial, a jury sided with Hand and found McGregor liable for the assault, ordering him to pay damages amounting to €248,603.60 (approximately $258,440).
Hand and her legal team claimed that McGregor “raped and battered” her, while McGregor admitted that “sex with me was athletic, physical” but insisted it was entirely consensual.
Despite the verdict, McGregor vowed to appeal the decision.
In his statement, he also acknowledged his infidelity after more than a decade in a relationship with his fiancée Dee Devlin, who is the mother of their four children.
“People want to hear from me, I needed time,” McGregor wrote. “I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have never responded to her outreaches. I should have shut the party down. I should never have stepped out on the woman I love the most in the world. That’s all on me.
“As much as I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all the witnesses present swore to that under oath. I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision.”
“I can’t go back and I will move forward,” McGregor wrote. “I am beyond grateful to my family, friends and supporters all over the world who have stayed by my side. That’s it. No more. Getting back to the gym- the fight game awaits!”
Since being found liable in the civil trial, Conor McGregor has faced significant fallout, including the video game franchise Hitman severing ties with him. The company removed him from all marketing campaigns in which he had been featured.
This is part of the broader consequences McGregor has had to navigate following the verdict, as his reputation continues to be impacted by the case.
The eyewitness said, “The incident occurred at about 10:00 pm on Saturday, claimed the life of the driver, while the Police officer attached to the kidnapped proprietor of the Mall was injured.”
