Church Collapse in Taraba Injures Many Worshippers
A church building belonging to the United Methodist Church Nigeria (UMCN) collapsed on Sunday, June 15, 2025, in Jantaro community, Mutum-Biyu, the headquarters of Gassol Local Government Area, Taraba State, leaving several worshippers injured.
The incident reportedly occurred during a church service as heavy rainfall and strong winds swept through the area, causing the structure to give way. The church is located behind the Police Divisional Office in the community.
Thankfully, no fatalities were reported.

Injured worshippers were rushed to the Mutumbiyu Referral Hospital, while others with more serious injuries, including fractures, were taken to a local bone setter, Alhaji Baffa Wanzami.
“It is very sad that some worshippers were injured while others got fractures. Some of them, including a little girl, were brought to me and I set their fractured bones,” Wanzami told Daily Trust.
Local resident Musa Adamu also revealed that several homes in the area were damaged during the storm, compounding the impact of the severe weather.
