Two individuals recently freed by the 82 Division Task Force Battalion reported that their captors’ camp was in complete chaos due to continuous military pressure in Borno State. This update was reported on X by security expert Zagazola Makama this past Friday.
Troops discovered the pair on July 16 at approximately 6:50 a.m. while conducting patrols near the Armuda Bridge in the Gwoza Local Government Area. During initial questioning, the former captives explained that they managed to flee their confinement in the Agapalwa region once the insurgents lost control of their operations.
The victims noted that the militant leadership had disintegrated, leaving the camp disorganized. Many fighters had either retreated or sustained injuries during recent offensives. These testimonies align with ongoing intelligence suggesting that Operation HADIN KAI has successfully eroded extremist strongholds in southern Borno. The rescued persons are now receiving medical attention and are being debriefed to help refine future security strategies.
