Bitcoin Soars Past $86,000
The recent surge in cryptocurrency prices continued on Monday, March 24, with Bitcoin and other major digital assets posting gains amid positive investor sentiment.
This rally comes despite concerns over upcoming U.S. tariffs and key economic data releases scheduled for later this week.
As of 7 AM, Bitcoin climbed 3.2%, reaching $86,590, while Ethereum advanced 2.3% to trade at $2,047. The global cryptocurrency market capitalization saw a 2.94% increase over the past 24 hours, bringing it to $2.84 trillion.
Among other notable cryptocurrencies, XRP, Cardano, and Dogecoin recorded gains of 3%, 2%, and 3.8%, respectively. Meanwhile, Chainlink, Avalanche, Hedera, and Stellar posted increases ranging from 3% to 10%.
Bitcoin’s market capitalization surged to $1.727 trillion, raising its dominance to 60.73%. Additionally, its 24-hour trading volume spiked by 93% to $18.2 billion. Stablecoin transactions accounted for 94.74% of total crypto trading, amounting to $57.58 billion, according to CoinMarketCap.
Solana (SOL) emerged as a standout performer, soaring over 7% in the past 24 hours to trade above $139.
“Bitcoin is holding above $86,000, registering a 3% gain today. The key resistance level to watch is $86,700; a breakout could pave the way for $90,000,” said Vikram Subburaj, CEO of Giottus.
The rally gained momentum following reports that President Trump’s upcoming April 2 tariffs may be more targeted than initially anticipated, easing market concerns.
Speculation over the weekend suggested that the tariffs could include exemptions for certain countries and non-cumulative charges on metals. This development contributed to improved sentiment across global financial markets, boosting investor confidence in risk assets like cryptocurrencies.
