Hashim Abdullahi, a legal practitioner, has returned home following a 21-day period in captivity. His relatives and supporters reportedly secured his release through the payment of an undisclosed ransom amount.
The abduction occurred three weeks ago while Abdullahi was traveling toward Sokoto, shortly after he had participated in a meeting held by the Muslim Lawyers Association in Kano.
Saidu Muhammad Tuduwada, the former president of the legal association, verified the news of the lawyer’s safe return. He expressed gratitude for the divine intervention and thanked the community for their continuous prayers and assistance during the ordeal.
Reports indicate that the abductors initially requested a N100 million ransom. They subsequently lowered the demand to N10 million and issued a 48-hour deadline for the payment to be completed.
