Multiple deaths reported in fresh armed attacks across Benue communities

At least 10 people were killed in separate attacks by suspected herdsmen in Benue State, prompting protests from local residents demanding government intervention.

At least 10 individuals have died following consecutive raids by armed groups believed to be herdsmen in the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State. Reports indicate the violence erupted on Saturday in Akpachi village within the Ugboju community, resulting in two fatalities and multiple injuries.

By early Sunday morning, the assailants struck again in the Otukpo Nobi area, claiming eight more lives and leaving others wounded. In response to the escalating violence, local residents and youth organized protests, marching to the Och’Idoma Palace to demand immediate government action against the insecurity.

This surge in violence follows the recent murder of Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, alongside his colleague Yakubu Isah, who were killed about a month ago near Okwudu following a peace summit.
