Bandits attacked Kankara General Hospital in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State on the night of January 14, 2025, shooting medical doctor Murtala Sale Dandashire and kidnapping five others.

The assailants stormed the facility, shot Dr. Dandashire, and took the victims to an undisclosed location.

Crisis and conflict journalist, Bakatsine, confirmed the incident on Wednesday and emphasized the urgent need to enhance security in hospitals across Katsina State.

“Within the past three months, bandits have reportedly entered three hospitals: Kurfi General Hospital, Mai Tsani hospital in Dutsin-ma LGA and Kankara General Hospital,” he said.

Dr. Dandashire, an indigene Kankara LGA, was widely celebrated after he emerged the overall best graduating Medical student at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 2019.
