Bandits have abducted Abdulsalam Rabi’u Faskari, a medical student and renowned Qur’an recitation champion, along with his father, Malam Rabe Faskari, and his brothers in Katsina State.

The attack took place near Labin Bangori on Tuesday evening as the family was returning to Faskari. Abdulsalam had just been honored by Governor Dikko Radda in Katsina for his victory at the 39th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

A government official in Faskari, speaking anonymously, said, “Malam Rabe and his five children, including Abdulsalam, were abducted at Bangori along Yankara road. We have not heard from them since.”

Abdulsalam, a medical student at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria, secured first place in the male category for memorizing 60 Hizbs of the Qur’an.
