Armed robbers have killed journalist Ojo Peter in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Ojo, a former reporter with Parrot Extra newspaper, was confirmed dead on Sunday, September 8, 2025, following injuries sustained during a daylight robbery on August 18 along the Molete–Oke Ado axis.

His death was initially believed to be health-related until his younger brother, Enahoro Peter, clarified that Ojo was shot by robbers who targeted him for the cross bag he carried. Enahoro explained that police at Orita Challenge had contacted the family, only for them to learn that the journalist had been attacked by an armed robber on a motorcycle.

“This is someone who left home to earn a living, only for his life to be cut short in broad daylight,” Enahoro said.

Police investigations linked the incident to a series of robberies in Ibadan. Command spokesperson CSP Adewale Osifeso confirmed that one suspect was arrested, while another was fatally injured after resisting arrest. He added that the suspects were also tied to a separate robbery and shooting at Anfani Junction on the same day.
