Armed bandits have killed two Mobile Police Force (MOPOL) operatives in an attack on Tsafe town, Zamfara State.

According to security sources quoted by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the incident happened late Sunday, August 17, 2025, when gunmen invaded the outskirts of Tsafe along the Yankuzo road. The officers, who were on duty at the time, came under intense gunfire and were killed on the spot.

One of the victims, identified as Sergeant Abdulhamid Abubakar Gobir, had only been promoted from corporal two weeks earlier. He was reportedly on special duty from MOPOL 22 PMF Lagos before the attack.

Gobir was laid to rest on Monday, August 18, at the 42 PMF Mobile Base in Gusau.
