APC Assigns Governors to Oversee 2027 Presidential Primary Coordination

The APC has appointed Governor Sim Fubara and other leaders as coordinators for its direct presidential primary election, which is set to take place nationwide on May 24, 2026.

The All Progressives Congress has officially designated Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara alongside various current and former governors to serve as state coordinators and collation officers for its upcoming presidential primary. The political party has confirmed the use of a direct primary election format, enabling every registered member to cast a vote across the nation.

Official documentation released from the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja specifies that these direct elections are scheduled to occur in 8,809 wards on May 24, 2026. State coordinators are tasked with managing the process within their assigned regions and compiling local government results. These officials are required to submit final figures to the Presidential Primary Election Committee in Abuja on the day of the vote.

National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru signed the directive, which notes that existing protocols for direct and consensus primaries, previously shared with the Independent National Electoral Commission in mid-May 2026, remain applicable to this event.
