Anambra CP Orders Trial of Officer Caught on Tape Assaulting Resident with Gun Butt

The Anambra State Police Command says it has identified the Police officer seen in a viral video assaulting a resident of the state.

 

The viral video showed the police officer slapping the victim and using the butt of his gun to hit him.

 

Reacting to the viral video, the spokesperson of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement released today May 21, said the state Commissioner of Police, Nnange Itam, has appealed to the victim to come forward and assist in facilitating the necessary procedures involved in the process.

 

Ikenga added that the officer also ordered that immediate disciplinary proceedings commence on the incident.

‘’ It is emphasised that under CP Itam’s watch, the command will not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct by police personnel. He highlights the importance of officers remaining courageously calm when dealing with the civil populace, especially when faced with provocation.

Furthermore, the CP urges citizens to always respect civil authority and abide by the law. The command emphasises its commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of all citizens.”
