Ali Ndume secures APC candidacy for Borno South 2027 senatorial race

Former Senate Leader Ali Ndume has secured the APC ticket for the Borno South senatorial seat unopposed, marking a step toward his fifth term in the National Assembly.

Ali Ndume, the former Senate Leader, has been confirmed as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Borno South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections. The primary took place in Maiduguri, where he was selected without opposition through an affirmation vote.

His nomination follows the withdrawal of Abdullahi Askira, the Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, who stepped down last month after discussions with party leaders. Should Ndume succeed in the upcoming general election, he will secure his fifth term in the National Assembly.

Expressing his gratitude, Ndume thanked the party faithful and local stakeholders for their continued trust. He also praised Askira for his commitment to party unity by abandoning his own bid. Ndume urged all members to maintain cohesion as they prepare for the future election cycle.
