The House of Representatives Committee currently probing the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has directed Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu to present the primary suspect, Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi, by noon tomorrow. Committee Chairman Yusuf Gagdi emphasized that Adeyemi’s presence is essential to clarify numerous forged documents that have compromised the reputations of both individuals and national institutions.
During the session, Accountant-General of the Federation Shamseldeen Ogunjimi disclosed that the PFIPC, also known as the Presidential Economic Advisory Council, gained government recognition through a counterfeit letter falsely attributed to the State House. Although the Treasury processed administrative requests, such as creating an accounting code, Ogunjimi confirmed that no public funds were disbursed to the illegitimate agency. He further noted that a requested N27.4 billion establishment grant was denied due to lack of budgetary approval.
Police representatives confirmed that criminal proceedings are underway, with eight-count charges of conspiracy and fraud already filed against Adeyemi at the Federal High Court. Evidence suggests the suspect attempted to recruit 300 staff members and sought to insert $1.3 billion into the 2026 Appropriation Act. Investigations have identified approximately 29 forged documents purportedly issued by various high-ranking government offices, including the Head of the Civil Service and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
