Aisha Yesufu Urges EFCC to Pursue All Corruption Cases Regardless of Political Status

Activist Aisha Yesufu is calling on the EFCC to broaden its corruption investigations beyond the recent forfeiture case involving former Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, arguing that selective justice undermines the rule of law.

Activist Aisha Yesufu has challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to widen its investigation into financial misconduct among political figures, emphasizing that bias in legal enforcement constitutes a form of injustice. She shared these thoughts on her official X account following a court ruling concerning former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami.

A federal court in Abuja recently mandated the permanent seizure of 48 properties associated with Malami. In her response, Yesufu praised the anti-graft agency for this action but described the outcome as only a minor portion of the corruption reports currently in circulation. She insisted that the EFCC must target other individuals involved in similar activities rather than focusing only on those who have lost favor with current power holders. According to Yesufu, upholding the rule of law requires consistent and impartial application across the board, and she expressed hope for further successful investigations by the agency.
