The national leadership of Accord has formally denounced the decision of its expelled former presidential candidate, Chris Imumolen, to back All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji in the upcoming Osun State gubernatorial race. Party officials emphasized that Imumolen holds no genuine political influence and dismissed him as a fringe figure looking for personal gain rather than representing any organized movement.
National Chairman Maxwell Mgbudem clarified that Imumolen is not a recognized member of the party. He dismissed claims regarding a factional leadership within Accord as purely imaginary, asserting that the party remains unified. The party expressed total confidence in securing a victory based on the achievements of Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing the state as a strong base for Accord.
Addressing concerns about the electoral process, Accord alleged that the APC has engaged in intimidation tactics and manipulated federal agencies to undermine the democratic process. The party has formally requested that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) maintain impartiality. Additionally, Accord has invited international observers, including the European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom, to monitor the election for potential irregularities.
