Wilfred Olatokunbo Afolabi, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police for Abia State, has issued a stern directive regarding the conduct of his officers. During his formal introduction at the Umuahia command headquarters on Monday, Afolabi declared that any officer found firing at motorists without a valid reason will face disciplinary measures. He emphasized that external pressure from community leaders or religious figures will not protect those who violate these standards.
Afolabi, who is the 35th officer to hold the position in the state, stated that he will mentor staff who need professional growth. However, he warned that individuals committing grave misconduct will be deemed unsuitable for duty. Looking ahead, the Commissioner intends to review current crime-fighting tactics and implement new strategies while prioritizing staff welfare to boost overall performance.
