Soldiers belonging to Operation Fansan Yamma successfully secured the release of nine individuals, seized 56 stolen animals, and took one suspected terrorist into custody during strategic missions in Katsina State. Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operation’s media spokesperson, confirmed these results on Friday as part of a wider initiative to neutralize criminal activity in the North-West region.
During a patrol in the Faskari Local Government Area, Sector 2 soldiers located nine people who had been abducted on July 9, 2026, along the Tsafe–Kuchere Road in Zamfara State. The group, consisting of four men, three women, and two children, managed to flee from their captors’ lair while the terrorists slept. Security forces found them soon after and have placed them in protective care while arranging for their return home.
In a separate action, troops intervened in the Bakori Local Government Area following reports of cattle rustling. The suspects fired upon the soldiers but retreated into the brush when met with superior military force. The recovered livestock, which includes 52 sheep and four cattle, remains under military protection until formal transfer to officials. Additionally, a man suspected of terrorism was apprehended in the Danmusa Local Government Area and is currently being interrogated by military authorities regarding evidence linked to his activities.
The Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force North-West praised the soldiers for their alertness and persistence. He restated the military’s dedication to using intelligence-based tactics alongside other security agencies to eliminate threats to safety in the region.
