Operation Enduring Peace troops have successfully neutralized six suspected terrorists across Plateau State. These actions included the recovery of locally manufactured firearms and the repulsion of an attempted breach at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru. Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the military spokesperson, confirmed that these missions are part of an ongoing initiative to eradicate criminal activity from the region.
On June 26, soldiers acting on intelligence reports conducted a raid at Gero Highground in Jos South Local Government Area. During the engagement, suspects utilized livestock as shields before abandoning their positions. A separate operation on the same day in the Bokkos area led to the arrest of a motorcycle rider and the seizure of three fabricated rifles after two passengers fled into the brush upon spotting military personnel.
Later, on June 30, an ambush near the Rafin Bauna/Gero mountains resulted in the death of five suspects, some of whom were identified as high-priority targets linked to previous violent incidents in Jos South and Bassa. Additionally, security forces thwarted an intrusion at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies on Wednesday night. One attacker was killed when soldiers engaged a group that attempted to climb over the facility’s perimeter fence. The military remains focused on dismantling criminal camps and securing the state for its residents.
