Security forces in Katsina State successfully thwarted kidnapping and livestock theft operations in Funtua and Musawa. Police spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu reported that officers acted on intelligence regarding armed bandits moving stolen cattle between Funtua and Dandume LGAs. Upon encountering the police, the criminals retreated into the forest, leaving behind Hafiza Rabiu, who had been kidnapped, and seven stolen cows. The victim has since returned to her family following a medical evaluation.
In a separate incident on July 17, authorities in Musawa received reports of an armed raid on Kuru Village. The local DPO, working alongside the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, tracked the perpetrators into a wooded area. The security personnel engaged the bandits with gunfire, causing them to flee and abandon eight additional cows. Police Commissioner Ali Umar-Fage praised the officers for their courage and thanked the public for providing the tips necessary to carry out these operations. He also encouraged citizens to continue working with law enforcement to improve safety in the region.
