Security operatives from the Ondo State Security Network, widely known as Amotekun, have successfully rescued a kidnapped individual and apprehended a father alongside his three sons in the Oba-Ile Akoko region. This development took place within the Akoko South West Local Government Area.
During a briefing in Akure on Tuesday, Amotekun Corps Commander Adetunji Adeleye announced the arrest of 43 individuals linked to various crimes, including kidnapping. Among those detained are 56-year-old Iliasu and his children: 33-year-old Usman, 27-year-old Wahab, and 18-year-old Yakubu. Investigators recovered several items from the scene, including narcotics, alcohol, and camouflage fabric used to blindfold the captive.
The operation commenced after the victim’s family sought assistance from the agency. Although the family initially attempted to pay a ransom privately without notifying authorities, the kidnappers held onto the victim and continued to issue threats. Once Amotekun was notified, they launched an immediate rescue mission. The suspects utilized cattle as a front for their criminal activities and resisted the officers with violence, though the victim was ultimately freed.
The victim suffered severe injuries from knives and cutlasses during his ordeal and is currently receiving medical care. During the operation, Amotekun personnel managed to retrieve most of the ransom money, which has since been returned to the victim’s relatives.
