Abiodun Ademola, an online personality widely known as DJ Chicken, stood before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court this Friday to face accusations of threatening to kill Seyi Tinubu. The 37-year-old resident of Lekki, Lagos, has been charged with three counts, including death threats, publishing offensive digital content, and behavior meant to incite a public disturbance.
SP Okunuga, representing the prosecution, stated that the incident took place on the morning of July 5. The defendant allegedly shared videos on Instagram and Facebook under the handle @djchicken that contained direct threats against Seyi Tinubu. These posts reportedly suggested that harm would come to the target if President Bola Tinubu participated in or secured victory in the 2027 presidential election. Prosecutors argued that the clips were intended to instill fear and alarm the public, violating the Cybercrimes Act of 2015 and Lagos State criminal statutes.
Ademola entered a plea of not guilty during the proceedings presided over by Magistrate M.F. Onamusi. The court granted the defendant bail set at ₦1 million, requiring two sureties. Stipulations for bail include that one surety must be a family member sharing the defendant’s surname, while the other must be a recognized clergy member or community leader. Additionally, the court requested proof of three years of tax compliance and LASTRA verification. The trial is scheduled to resume on August 3.
