Patten and Heliovaara Advance to Wimbledon Doubles Final

Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara have reached the Wimbledon men’s doubles final for the second time in three years after a hard-fought victory.

British tennis player Henry Patten and his partner from Finland, Harri Heliovaara, have secured a spot in the Wimbledon men’s doubles final. This marks their second appearance in the championship match at the All England Club within three years.

The duo, who currently hold the world number one ranking and won the tournament in 2024, earned their place by overcoming Aleksandar Kovacevic of the United States and Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis in two tight tie-breaks, 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (10-8). Their success in close sets has been a hallmark of their run, having won six out of seven tie-breaks throughout this year’s competition.

Since teaming up in 2024, the pair has enjoyed significant success, including a victory at the 2025 Australian Open. They are now aiming for a third Grand Slam title as a team. In the final this Saturday, they are set to compete against Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador and Croatia’s Mate Pavic. The pair recently defeated Patten and Heliovaara at Queen’s Club last month.

Reflecting on reaching the final, Patten expressed a mix of exhaustion and excitement to the BBC, noting that the pressure of playing on Centre Court at Wimbledon naturally brings nerves. Arevalo and Pavic advanced after eliminating the previous defending champions, Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, in earlier rounds.
