Nigeria Immigration Service Halts OIS Visa Operations in the United States

The Nigeria Immigration Service has indefinitely suspended OIS Services visa application centres in the U.S., requiring applicants to deal directly with Nigerian diplomatic missions instead.

Effective July 1, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has indefinitely stopped using Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services) to manage visa application centres across the United States. Deputy Comptroller of Immigration Akinsola Akinlabi, the agency’s spokesperson, confirmed this change in an official statement from Abuja.

Travelers and Nigerian citizens in the U.S. needing entry visas must now go directly to the Nigerian Embassy in Washington, D.C., or the Consulates General in New York and Atlanta. This mandate is currently in effect until further notice.

The NIS clarified that this shift does not impact the electronic visa (e-Visa) program, which remains fully operational via the official web portal. According to the agency, measures are active to ensure that visa processing remains smooth during this transition. Officials have asked applicants to follow official communication channels for future updates and thanked the public for their continued patience.
