State House Rejects Peter Obi’s Claims of Political Persecution

The Presidency has rejected claims by Peter Obi that he is being targeted by the Federal Government, labeling his allegations as unfounded fabrications.

The Presidency has formally refuted accusations made by Labour Party leader Peter Obi, who alleged that he is facing harassment from the current administration. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, characterized these claims as entirely fabricated and deceptive.

Onanuga specifically addressed a recent incident at an airport involving Obi’s vehicle, noting that the situation stemmed from the politician disregarding parking rules rather than government interference. The aide dismissed Obi’s suggestion that he might be killed before the 2027 elections or that organizers are being pressured to exclude him from events as baseless propaganda intended to generate unmerited public pity.

The statement further addressed the status of Fidelity Bank, where Obi holds a significant stake. The administration clarified that the bank is flourishing due to national economic policies and is not being targeted by state authorities. Onanuga asserted that the government is fully occupied with implementing economic reforms and has no interest in engaging with what he termed the politician’s repeated, unproven accusations.
