Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairmen’s Forum recently concluded a three-day working tour in Lagos, expressing strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s foundational economic and infrastructural policies. Led by Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the delegation visited prominent sites including the Lekki Free Zone and the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line, citing them as enduring achievements from Tinubu’s tenure as governor.
During their inspection of the Lekki Free Zone, Ojelabi praised the President for his foresight in establishing the area, noting that it now supports 22,000 jobs, with 80 percent held by Nigerians. He compared the strategic planning behind the zone to the removal of the fuel subsidy, framing both as challenging but essential actions for long-term national prosperity. The forum members expressed their intention to encourage their respective state administrations to adopt similar economic models to spur regional growth and job creation.
Dr. Aliyu Bello, the forum’s secretary and APC chairman for Nasarawa, stated that the tour provided vital insights into industrialization. He noted that such development is crucial for addressing security and employment concerns in the northern regions. Similarly, Edo State APC Chairman Jarrett Tenebe highlighted the project as a testament to the President’s developmental approach.
The delegation also examined the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line, meeting with Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, the head of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA). They lauded the Lagos Strategic Transport Master Plan for its role in modernizing public transit. The group experienced the rail system firsthand, riding from Marina to Mile 2, and commended its efficiency. The tour concluded with visits to several key sites, including the Lagos Deep Sea Port, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, and the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu.
