Jack Draper channels Andy Murray for successful comeback victory

Jack Draper returned to competitive tennis with an Eastbourne victory, drawing on the influence of his new coach, Sir Andy Murray, to secure a difficult win following a persistent knee injury.

British tennis player Jack Draper secured a hard-fought win in his first competitive match after a two-month hiatus caused by a knee injury. Currently ranked 160th in the world, Draper credited his new coach, Sir Andy Murray, for guiding him through the match at Eastbourne.

Draper defeated American Marcos Giron with a score of 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), describing the result as an “ugly win” reminiscent of Murray’s trademark style. This match marked the 24-year-old’s first victory since his notable win against Novak Djokovic at Indian Wells in March. Reflecting on his challenging year, which involved various physical setbacks including arm and shoulder injuries, Draper expressed deep appreciation for Murray’s mentorship and belief in his potential.

Draper, who reached a career-high ranking of fourth after a strong US Open performance last year, will now compete against Jack Pinnington Jones in the next round of the tournament.
