Arsenal Eyeing Newcastle Duo Guimaraes and Tonali for Summer Transfer

Arsenal have engaged in early talks to explore signing Newcastle midfielders Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali, though they are also considering other targets like Alex Scott and Ayyoub Bouaddi.

Arsenal have initiated preliminary discussions regarding the potential acquisition of Newcastle United midfielders Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali. While the North London club is prioritizing the signing of a single central midfielder this summer, they are currently evaluating a list of targets that also includes Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi, and West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes.

Although Arsenal have reached out to the representatives of both Guimaraes and Tonali to understand the logistics of a deal, Newcastle have not yet received a formal offer. Newcastle remains reluctant to part ways with Guimaraes, the club’s captain and primary playmaker. Meanwhile, the Magpies have already rejected an £80m bid from Tottenham Hotspur for Tonali and believe they could command a fee closer to £100m for the Italian international, who is under contract until 2030.

Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is known for managing several potential deals in parallel. The outcome of this search may impact the standing of current squad members, with Christian Norgaard potentially being made available for transfer and Martin Zubimendi facing increased competition for a starting role. Newcastle, meanwhile, are aiming to retain their core talent, including Guimaraes, Tonali, Anthony Gordon, and Alexander Isak, as they seek to improve upon a disappointing 12th-place finish in the previous Premier League campaign.
