19-Year-Old Nigerian Artist Tragically Beaten To Death In Ghana
19-year-old Destiny an aspiring Nigerian artiste and streamer has been beaten to death in Ghana’s Volta Region, his dreams silenced in the very country he hoped would nurture them.
According to reports the Edo State-born youth was attacked on May 28 by a group of three men, one of whom was reportedly his countryman and former benefactor the same man who helped him travel to Ghana under the guise of furthering his education.
“He called him his street brother,” speaking on condition of anonymity. “They facilitated his trip, got him an apartment, and later introduced him to a business. But then came accusations that Destiny had diverted some of the business funds. That’s when things went south.”
Three men reportedly stormed Destiny’s apartment demanding explanations. When he failed to satisfy them, they resorted to brutal force. The beating, described as “intense,” left the young man limp and lifeless. His alleged assailants, realizing what they had done, abandoned his body in the room.
Days passed before the police were alerted and discovered the decomposing remains.
“We were told the suspects haven’t been arrested yet,” another source said. “We’re hoping Ghanaian authorities act swiftly to bring justice for Destiny.”
A haunting video of the late Destiny recorded before his death shows a wide-eyed teenager brimming with hope.
“I’m Destiny. I’m a streamer from Nigeria,” he says. “I want to apply to Streamers University. This will be a great joy for me, my mother, and everybody. I’m an artiste and a gamer… I do all sorts of things.”
His voice now echoes as a ghost in a digital age, one more young dreamer swallowed by a world where opportunity and exploitation often walk hand-in-hand.
This tragedy comes just weeks after the killing of 77-year-old Nigerian Uber driver Olatunji Bolaji in the United States another Nigerian life lost far from home.
Two lives. Two continents. Two crimes. One resounding question: When will the world become safer for those simply chasing their better tomorrow?
