11-Year-Old Florida Boy Handcuffed and Arrested After Sheriff Alleges Threats and Possession of Weapons

An 11-year-old boy from Florida was handcuffed and placed in county detention after allegedly boasting about his extensive collection of weapons and plans to carry out a “kill list” at two different schools, according to the sheriff.

Sheriff Mike Chitwood stated in a Facebook post that the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office confiscated a range of airsoft guns, knives, and swords after Carlo “Kingston” Dorelli, 11, displayed a video of his arsenal to classmates and made threats of violence.

“He had made a list of names and targets, though he claims it was just a joke,” Chitwood wrote.

In response to his “joke,” the sheriff charged Dorelli with a felony for making a written threat of a mass shooting and shared a video showing officers escorting the boy into the jailhouse with handcuffs on both his wrists and ankles.

They also released his mugshot alongside a photo of replica assault rifles, samurai swords, and throwing stars arranged on a table in a style reminiscent of a drug bust.

The dramatic display followed Chitwood’s pledge to “perp-walk” kids making prank threats, amid a surge of false reports after the deadly shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia, which resulted in four fatalities.

“Every time we make an arrest, your child’s photo will be publicized… We’re coming for you and making sure you face public embarrassment,” Chitwood declared at a press conference last week, after Florida authorities received 54 fake tips about potential school shootings in just one night.

Florida isn’t the only state grappling with school shooting threats.

On Friday, police in Foley, Alabama, arrested two teenagers for making a “terrorist threat” on social media, following a school lockdown triggered by a teacher overhearing a student discussing having a weapon.

That same day, in Indianapolis, a 12-year-old and a 15-year-old were arrested in separate incidents involving threats against their school district, according to WFYI Indianapolis.

In Texas, two 12-year-olds were arrested last week, with authorities having booked at least ten young people for school violence threats this school year, reported My San Antonio.

Chitwood commented, “For those little punks who think this is a joke, thinking they’re clever on social media: You’re not. You’re going to get caught.”
