Armed criminals launched a revenge attack on the Yankuzo community in Tsafe, Zamfara State, destroying the residence of District Head Babangida Hamza.

The assault occurred on Tuesday shortly after military forces struck nearby militant camps.

Witnesses report that a group commanded by an individual known as Mai Rasha entered the town in the afternoon, firing weapons to intimidate locals before setting the palace on fire.

Hamza confirmed the destruction, noting that he and his family were absent when the incident occurred.

The traditional leader revealed that he has been a frequent target for regional armed groups. He previously spent time in captivity after being kidnapped six months ago and has faced persistent threats regarding his perceived cooperation with security agencies.

During their occupation of the area until mid-afternoon, the gunmen ransacked local businesses and homes, stealing food and other assets from residents.
