Kwame Yeboah, a 30-year-old former pilot for British Airways, has been ordered to serve eight years and four months behind bars. The sentencing follows his conviction for grooming and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl he contacted on the internet.
Yeboah, who previously played for the England youth basketball team, connected with the victim on Omegle and moved their interaction to Instagram. Despite evidence of her youth, including school-related mentions, the Berkshire resident drove to Merseyside to meet the child. While there, he forced the victim into sexual acts inside his vehicle.
During the proceedings at Liverpool Crown Court, Judge Gary Woodhall labeled Yeboah a dangerous predator. Along with the prison term, the judge added a one-year licence period, a lifelong placement on the sex offenders’ register, and a 15-year restraining order. Yeboah pleaded guilty to three counts of raping a child under 13 and one count of assault by penetration.
The criminal activity surfaced after the girl’s mother discovered their messages and contacted law enforcement. Since the trauma, the victim has faced significant challenges with her mental health and daily life. Following his arrest, British Airways terminated Yeboah’s employment, expressing profound condemnation of his actions. Detective Constable Roxana Tusa emphasized the police force’s resolve to apprehend such offenders.
