This statement followed his 35 million pound transfer to Old Trafford this past July, which occurred after United activated a release clause in his existing contract.
During his tenure with Villa, the Belgian midfielder was instrumental in securing a Europa League title, effectively ending the club’s 30-year wait for a major trophy. Despite this success, Tielemans defended his transfer by noting that United possesses a superior global standing compared to Unai Emery’s squad. These remarks sparked frustration among the Villa fanbase.
Addressing the controversy on Instagram, the 29-year-old clarified that he did not intend to show disrespect toward Aston Villa, a club he remains grateful to for his three seasons there. He acknowledged his poor choice of language and offered a formal apology.
