Yobe State University Student Dies in Tragic Road Accident Near Campus

Amina Yakubu, a 100-level student of Yobe State University, lost her life in a motor accident, while four others were injured in the incident.

The crash occurred on Saturday around 5:30 p.m. along Gujba Road, close to the university’s main gate, as the students were traveling from Damaturu Metropolis to the school.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to Daily Trust, the accident involved a tricycle, commonly known as ‘Keke NAPEP,’ and a vehicle. Among those injured was a university matron, along with three others who sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Bukar Jamri, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Monday. Speaking on behalf of the institution, he offered condolences to the deceased student’s family, describing Amina as a promising young woman from Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The statement added that Amina had been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.

University officials are reportedly coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure that the injured individuals receive proper medical care.
