As police actively investigate the apparent homicide of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, sources have indicated that their son, Nick Reiner, was allegedly involved in their deaths.
The couple was discovered deceased inside their Los Angeles home on Sunday afternoon, December 14, by their daughter, Romy. Reports suggest the victims had wounds consistent with a knife.
Despite the source reports, the LAPD held a press conference outside the Brentwood residence and stated they are not currently seeking any suspects and have made no arrests in the case.
Nick Reiner, 32, the couple’s second son, has a documented history of struggles with addiction and homelessness. He first entered rehabilitation at age 15 and had numerous subsequent treatment stays.
Nick previously detailed his experiences being homeless in various states. He later co-wrote the screenplay for the 2015 film ‘Being Charlie’, which was directed by his father and loosely based on his personal battles.

The Reiner family, including Nick, his older brother Jake (34), and younger sister Romy (28), were last photographed together publicly at the ‘Spinal Tap II: The End Continues’ premiere in September.

A family spokesperson issued a statement to the L.A. Times, expressing their grief: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
