Yobe Police Apprehend Eight Suspected Thieves, Recover Stolen Property

Yobe State Police arrested eight suspected members of a criminal syndicate following a series of thefts in Damaturu, recovering various stolen goods in the process.

The Yobe State Police Command successfully captured eight individuals accused of running a burglary ring in Damaturu. The arrests followed a recent surge in shoplifting and break-ins across the capital.

SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Command spokesperson, confirmed the operation occurred on Monday. Officers from the A Division in Damaturu teamed up with local vigilantes after receiving reliable information about criminal behavior in the Abbari, Nasarawa, and Gwange neighborhoods.

The eight suspects in custody are Abdullahi Musa, Khalifa Mohammed, Alhassan Ali, Ibrahim Shehu, Ali Mohammed, Abba Shetima, Boniface Cosmos, and Sakinat Usman. During questioning, the group admitted to their involvement in various thefts. Authorities recovered several items, including vegetable oil, noodles, powdered milk, and mobile devices.

Police are continuing their search for remaining accomplices and additional stolen property. Residents and business owners are encouraged to report any suspicious behavior to help maintain local security.
