Bauchi State police have taken 22-year-old Ahmed Saleh into custody for posing as a law enforcement official. The suspect reportedly broke into a female dormitory at the Malikiyya College of Health in the Old GRA district of Bauchi.
Saleh, who lives in the Kobi neighborhood, faces allegations involving attempted rape and robbery. Command spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib explained that officers were alerted to the situation around 6:30 am on Friday. Witnesses reported that a man wearing a full police camouflage uniform had entered the residence hall at 2:30 am.
During the intrusion, the suspect claimed he was affiliated with the Garu Security Service. Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer for the ‘B’ Division and his team arrived at the scene and apprehended the suspect. Authorities seized the camouflage uniform as evidence.
Preliminary investigations suggest Saleh is responsible for multiple thefts previously reported near the hostel. He is currently being held as police prepare to file formal charges. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu warned the public against impersonating security personnel and reiterated the command’s pledge to safeguard student communities throughout the state.
