A 75-year-old animal enthusiast died after being struck by her own car in a tragic accident. Jacqueline Davies of Cwmbran, Torfaen, exited her red Ford Fiesta on a slope on July 6 to rescue a cat. Investigators at Gwent Coroners’ Court were told that the vehicle’s handbrake failed, causing the car to roll forward and hit her.
Although Davies managed to call emergency services, she later died at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. Coroner Rose Farmer stated the preliminary cause of death included a major hemorrhage and significant trauma. Her family described her as a spirited and independent woman whose personal strength served as an inspiration to others. They expressed profound grief while seeking further clarity regarding the circumstances of her death.
Gwent Police are currently appealing for any witnesses who were in the Bryn Millwr area of Hollybush on July 6 between 10:00 and 10:30 BST to come forward. The formal inquest into her passing is scheduled to continue on April 13, 2027.
