Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stated on Friday that President Bola Tinubu’s robust infrastructure drive in Abuja has effectively dismantled political opposition. Speaking at the commissioning of the Arab/Gbazango Road in Kubwa, Wike argued that the current administration’s tangible achievements provide an irrefutable rebuttal to critics.
During the event, Wike highlighted that the FCT administration has awarded 317 kilometers of road projects in satellite towns since May 2023, with 221 kilometers already finalized. He challenged detractors to disprove these statistics within 48 hours, pledging his resignation if the data proves inaccurate. The minister emphasized that this pace of development, which included 53 major projects commissioned over a 31-day period ending July 17, 2026, is historically unprecedented.
Wike noted that the completion of the road in Gbazango serves as a clear example of how improved infrastructure boosts local commerce and daily life. He framed these developments as proof of the government’s commitment to delivering results over empty rhetoric. Furthermore, he announced plans to initiate at least 10 additional projects before the year concludes.
Addressing local concerns, Wike instructed the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority to immediately prioritize water supply improvements for the Gbazango community. The minister concluded by asserting that the administration’s focus remains on sustaining this momentum to benefit the residents of the capital territory.
