Online activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has issued a public challenge to Assistant Inspector-General of Police Moshood Jimoh. He is demanding a response regarding claims that the officer helped orchestrate a murder charge against businessman Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi.
In a recent social media video, VeryDarkMan questioned how the investigation into the death of Sheriff Salami was handled. He accused the AIG of colluding with Aare Bashiru Fakorede to wrongly implicate Akanbi, even though initial suspect confessions reportedly never mentioned him. The activist questioned the ethics of using high-ranking police authority to settle personal disputes between business rivals.
VeryDarkMan detailed that a suspect detained on January 6, 2026, provided a statement omitting Akanbi. He asserted that subsequent suspects also failed to connect the businessman to the crime. According to the activist, these individuals were subjected to physical abuse and coerced into signing false statements. He shared excerpts of a suspect’s account, which claimed the person felt forced to lie after witnessing a death in police custody and experiencing repeated torture.
While AIG Jimoh previously denied any misconduct during a TVC broadcast, the activist argues that the officer has yet to address these specific, serious accusations. VeryDarkMan maintains that these events threaten the legitimacy of the Nigerian legal system and continues to urge the officer to provide a transparent account.
