VeryDarkMan Criticizes Plan to Replace NYSC Khaki with Adire

Martins Vincent Otse has rejected the government’s proposal to replace standard NYSC uniforms with Yoruba Adire fabric, arguing that the scheme should represent all ethnic groups equally.

Social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, frequently referred to as VeryDarkMan, has publicly opposed a government proposal to swap the traditional National Youth Service Corps khaki uniform for Adire, a Yoruba textile. This development follows a statement by the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, who indicated on Channels TV that the transition to local Adire fabric is intended to bolster domestic manufacturing.

VeryDarkMan argued that the NYSC serves the entire nation, not just one ethnic group. He emphasized that since Nigeria comprises over 250 diverse tribes, forcing every youth participant to wear a garment culturally tied to the Yoruba people is inappropriate. He challenged the minister to consider the broader implications for national unity and suggested that the government should focus on more pressing issues facing Nigerian youth rather than modifying uniforms.
