US Military Intercepts Ship to Enforce Iran Port Blockade

US Marines boarded the M/T Wen Yao in the Gulf of Oman as part of an ongoing mission to enforce a naval blockade against Iranian ports.

American military personnel conducted a boarding operation on a vessel in the Gulf of Oman this Thursday, marking a continuation of the naval blockade targeting Iranian ports. According to US Central Command, or CENTCOM, Marines boarded the M/T Wen Yao to guarantee strict adherence to the current naval restrictions.

This enforcement action follows a hostile encounter the previous day, where a US aircraft disabled an empty oil tanker attempting to bypass the blockade. CENTCOM reported that since the blockade commenced at 2000 GMT on Tuesday, authorities have successfully redirected three additional commercial ships attempting to circumvent the restrictions.

The current maritime strategy echoes previous efforts by the United States, which maintained a blockade on Iranian ports between April 13 and June 18. CENTCOM data indicates that during that prior timeframe, military forces managed to redirect over 140 vessels and disabled nine others.
