United States Central Command, also known as CENTCOM, confirmed that it conducted its third straight night of military airstrikes against Iranian targets. The announcement was shared via the agency’s official X account on Monday.
Officials stated that these ongoing operations aim to severely penalize Iranian military forces while reducing their capacity to threaten commercial vessels and civilians navigating the Strait of Hormuz. These actions align with statements made by President Donald Trump, who indicated during an interview with Hugh Hewitt that additional strikes were planned for Monday and Tuesday.
President Trump asserted that the United States is moving to secure the Strait of Hormuz and expects affluent nations to compensate the US for these maritime security efforts. He accused Iranian officials of backtracking on prior negotiations and cautioned that further military measures would follow if Tehran breaches ceasefire agreements.
Conversely, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei declared that Tehran would only adhere to its responsibilities once the United States demonstrates full compliance with its own. Baqaei added that Iran is actively communicating with regional mediators, such as Oman, Qatar, and Pakistan, to maintain diplomatic dialogue and mitigate the risk of further regional instability.
