US Conducts Additional Military Strikes Against Iran Amid Regional Explosions

The United States has launched new military strikes against Iranian targets following recent attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, effectively ending the existing ceasefire agreement.

Following a violent exchange earlier this week, the United States has initiated a fresh wave of military strikes targeting Iran. President Donald Trump indicated the operations would continue, describing the action as a direct response to the recent bombing of commercial vessels within the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian state media reported multiple explosions across the country’s southern coast, affecting key port cities including Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Jask, and the island of Abu Musa. Further incidents were noted in Konarak and Chabahar, where reports confirmed localized power outages, alongside a fire at an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps facility in Bushehr. US Central Command stated these measures are necessary to protect maritime navigation and hold Iran accountable for aggression against civilian crews.

President Trump has declared the previous ceasefire agreement, signed on June 17, to be null and void. While Iran has not issued a formal statement regarding these specific strikes, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi asserted that the nation would respond through direct action. This escalation follows previous clashes in late June and marks a significant breakdown in the diplomatic efforts originally intended to facilitate a 60-day negotiation period.
