President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday that Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has concluded her tenure after one year in the role. Parliament had initially confirmed Svyrydenko as the 19th Prime Minister on July 17, 2025, following her previous service as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy.
Zelensky stated that this resignation is a component of broader personnel adjustments intended to support the nation’s revised political strategy. While Svyrydenko departs, the president has proposed that she transition to lead a significant new division focused on relations with a critical international partner.
The reorganization extends beyond the cabinet, as Zelensky signaled forthcoming replacements within law enforcement leadership and requested legislative support for these transitions. The restructuring aims to align government officials with specific foreign policy priorities, including the manufacturing of Patriot systems in collaboration with the United States and bolstering bilateral security. Other focal points include advancing European anti-ballistic projects, accelerating European Union membership, and strengthening ties with China, the Middle East, and the Gulf region to help resolve the ongoing conflict with Russia.
