On Tuesday, the United Arab Emirates reported that Iranian forces fired missiles at two vessels navigating the Strait of Hormuz. The incident resulted in the death of one Indian crew member and left eight others wounded, with four individuals suffering severe injuries.
According to the Emirati Ministry of Defence, the tankers identified as Mombasa and Al Bahiyah were hit by cruise missiles while moving through Omani territorial waters. Although the strikes ignited fires on the vessels, crews managed to contain the damage.
The UAE government denounced the event as a serious breach of international law that undermines the stability of the region. This incident follows a series of recent US military strikes against Tehran, signaling an intensification of regional tensions.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global transit point for oil. Tensions in the area have deepened further as President Trump recently announced plans to impose transit fees on cargo passing through the route and declared intentions to restore a blockade on Iranian shipping.
