Turaki-led PDP faction points to external influence in court defeat against Wike group

The Taminu Turaki-led PDP faction intends to appeal a Federal High Court ruling that favored the Nyesom Wike camp, alleging that the verdict was swayed by political greed and power.

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party headed by Taminu Turaki has suggested that external pressures led to the recent Federal High Court ruling that benefited Nyesom Wike’s supporters. According to the group, the court’s decision to dismiss their petition for leadership recognition was likely driven by the influence of money, power, and political greed.

Ini Ememobong, the National Publicity Secretary for the faction, released a statement on Friday expressing profound disappointment with the verdict. While acknowledging the authority of the court, Ememobong maintained that the ruling contradicts established precedents set by both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.

As a result, the party has directed its legal counsel to file an appeal. The faction remains confident that a higher court will rectify the situation, viewing the challenge as essential for preserving a healthy multi-party democracy. Despite the current setback, the group believes that victory will eventually be theirs.
