On Tuesday, senior members of the Kano State branch of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) convened with Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the governorship candidate representing the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 election. The NNPP delegation, headed by Dr. Hashim Suleiman Dungurawa, congratulated Gwarzo on his successful bid for the NDC ticket. During the session, the party officials expressed their support, offering prayers for his success in the upcoming electoral contest.
Reports suggest that the NNPP might integrate its local organization into the NDC framework with the goal of unseating the current administration under Governor Abba Yusuf. The political stability of Governor Yusuf is increasingly questioned following his documented rift with Rabiu Kwankwaso, the influential leader of the Kwankwassiyya Movement. Kwankwaso, who currently serves as the vice presidential nominee for the NNPP, has publicly committed to facilitating an NDC transition into the Kano State government house by 2027.
