A woman, identified simply as Iya Bolu, has reportedly slumped and died while brushing her teeth in Abaji, the headquarters of the Abaji Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to neighbours who spoke to Daily Trust on Tuesday, November 12, the incident occurred around 7 a.m. on Friday, shortly after the deceased woke up and picked up her toothbrush.
A relative, Mr. Femi Ajakaiye, said the woman had just finished her morning prayers and was preparing to go to the market when she suddenly collapsed. He described her as a petty trader who had shown no signs of illness before her death.
“She was believed to be hale and hearty. She only stepped out to brush her teeth when she suddenly slumped,” Ajakaiye said.
The woman was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed her dead on arrival.
Her husband, a panel beater, was already at work when the incident occurred. “Upon being informed, he rushed to the hospital, only to find that his wife had already been confirmed dead,” the relative added.
The deceased’s body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue and will be taken to Ondo State for burial.
Tragically, Ajakaiye revealed that Iya Bolu had been preparing to travel to Ondo State later this month for her mother’s burial before her untimely death.
