The Taraba State Government has committed to providing land and necessary infrastructure to host the newly formed Nigerian Army 10 Division in Jalingo. This promise was delivered on Monday as a delegation from the Army Headquarters, headed by Major General I. O. Bassey, arrived to evaluate local facilities and coordinate requirements for the new military formation.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Agbu Kefas, Secretary to the State Government Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps expressed enthusiasm for the project. He noted that the government views the presence of the division as a vital step in securing the lives and assets of citizens. Kataps confirmed that the state has earmarked land in regions such as Karim-Lamido, Bali, Wukari, and Gembu to house prospective brigades and battalions.
The military delegation spent the visit inspecting existing sites and identifying resource gaps to ensure a smooth transition. Both local officials and military leaders believe this collaboration will significantly bolster regional security and promote long-term stability throughout Taraba.
